Great blog! Which clubs are actually afilliated with UKMF? I'm very confused as every major Thai boxing instructor in the UK seems to have their 'own' governing body e.g. SIMTA for Master Sken and UK Muay-Thai Association founded by Sandy Holt. A most confusing situation for the layman!!!
Hi, yes you are right, there are indeed so many great MuayThai organisations in the UK.
There are only a handful of clubs affiliated with the UKMF. The UKMF is a "Federation" which is supposed to advise other MuayThai Associations what Thailand wants, deliver news and events etc,and is an independent voice for ALL UK Associations, telling Thailand what we expect in the UK.
Most Associations in the UK however, have little interest in anything outside their own business. Our policy is not to interfere but to deliver information when we get it. Our excellent Secretary, Ralph Beale, sends lots of stuff out from Thailand as soon as it arrives; we cannot be responsible if other UK Organisations seem uninterested.
Hi Arjarn Mick,
You wrote in this piece "Now that MuayThai is a member of the Olympic family..."
I wasn't aware of this! So Muay Thai is now an Olympic Sport? and there will be a Great British team at the next Olympics?!
